Human Response to International Events

There are numerous contributing elements to the state of the globe today. Human behaviour and subsequent responses to specific circumstances can be traced back to the beginning of recorded human history. Due to humanity's inherent defects, which are still evident today, the earth has fallen into a deluge of tempests.

We still face numerous crises as a result of the many self-inflicted perplexities of our existence. Retribution has always fueled social unrest, therefore our predecessors' patience should have served as the impetus for eliminating the stigmas and misconceptions that have caused so many of the imbalances in our cultures today.

Complacency, ignorance, apathy, or hatred cannot be used to address the problems that face humanity. It is just as difficult to instil a culture of ensuing apathy as it is to find ways to actually bring about harmony and peace for all of humanity. The persistent will of man to achieve social equilibrium can eliminate the murky parts of our existence. When you consider that we have always been prone to experience the consequences of our acts without realising that those actions were actually the mistakes we did in the past, you can't help but question if man is essentially incapable of making distinctions.

All types of troublesome crises inevitably happen in civilizations that are out of balance. If ever there was a time when we needed to act with urgency in order to realise that we kept making the same mistakes, this is it. When events occur, we react far too frequently in a spontaneous manner without making a deliberate attempt to compare our responses to those of similar occurrences in the past.
As we commemorated the 20th anniversary of 9/11, it was important to reflect on the progress we have made and the things we have actually done. Even if the conditions in the Viet Nam era were different, both the events and the ensuing military reactions to Viet Nam and Afghanistan were total disasters. And while we still need to pay tribute to the victims of September 11th, there must now be a purposeful effort made to ensure that our responses to any future incident, whether it be a natural disaster or not, will prevent the errors we made in the past.
The world now would be a lot more stable if we had comprehended that our military efforts since Korea have made the world more hostile and violent on a regular basis. Since Korea, our government has placed military personnel in danger because it disregarded General of the Army General Douglas Mac Arthur's warnings. Quote, "When war is forced upon us, we must employ all available methods to put an end to it quickly. The goal of military confrontations is always victory rather than protracted appeasement."
