A Simple Truth
The failures of the last climate change summit will have far-reaching ramifications for years to come around the world. The dominance of large money interests over ideas to tackle global warming continues to endanger the world and humanity. Every year, unrelenting catastrophic disasters increase in severity and intensity at an alarming rate. Despite the fact that there are viable solutions using existing technologies to mitigate the effects of global warming, there has been no concerted attempt to put them into action.
With so much dispute and reluctance to accept acknowledged facts, mankind as a whole is in jeopardy. Risks that should never be taken. Denial travesties occur all too frequently on a daily basis. And the recent Climate Change Conference demonstrates this. We in the United States, whose leaders were formerly seen as role models for other countries, are now mocked and derided. Let us not be swayed by the seduction of power and money. Instead, let us welcome a future devoid of desire and fear. There is no reason why humanity cannot embrace a future in harmony with nature using the tools available now.
There is a lesson to be learnt from the recent Climate Change Conference, and that is that many of us, particularly some leaders, are allied with the ruling class, which works in opposition to this one reality about our fast changing planet. A planet that is on the verge of tragedy. One can wonder, "What can we do when humanity faces a future of violent retaliation from nature?" Retributions that are driving humanity to unspeakable agony.
Consider that for a moment. Rising sea levels, which generate extraordinarily high desalination levels, are the main reasons why there has been an increase in the frequency of catastrophic weather patterns all over the world, whether they be typhoons or hurricanes, extreme drought conditions, and massive flooding. All of this is a direct outcome of our refusal to accept the effects of global warming on our world. These harsh conditions have caused and will continue to cause the hatred and violent retaliation that we have and are seeing today. When billions of dollars are wasted trying to recover from the devastating aftereffects of global warming, the realisation that so many lives and livelihoods could have been saved by instituting solutions that negate the effects of global warming should be more than enough reason to act more quickly to put those solutions in place well before disaster strikes.
It is a terrible statement on our world when leaders refuse to act and are brought and paid for by large money conglomerates. These companies, on the other hand, have yet to recognise that by implementing policies that enhance green energy reforms and finally eliminate carbon emissions, they stand to benefit rather than lose. I can't help but recall what big oil and the automobile business did to the Tucker Automobile in the late 1940s. The Tucker was a breakthrough concept automobile, but the oil companies and the big three automakers were opposed to mass building it since it would have reduced their profit margins. They couldn't let it happen, so they ruined Tucker and his dream. Everything is done for profit. The oil business and certain officials are doing the same thing now by refusing to embrace the plain truth of global warming.
Today, with Trump in the White House and under his so-called leadership, the United States is refusing to take the lead in establishing conditions and policies to tackle humanity's most pressing catastrophe of our time. And, unless we have leaders who genuinely lead the way in demanding immediate action to substantially reduce, and finally eliminate, carbon emissions, the world will get more violent.
